Getting Ready For Middle School

Parents and guardians of 5th grade students are invited to preview the middle school experience on 3/27 (MMS) and 3/28 (SOMS). Principals Dara Gronau (MMS) and Lynn Irby (SOMS) will provide an overview of what you need to know, as you prepare for this new chapter in your child’s education. School orientations will take place later in the spring. Roller Skating Party: Rescheduled to 3/22

Roll on over to Jefferson’s Roller Skating Party which has been rescheduled to take place on Thurs, March 22nd from 6pm - 8pm at Florham Park Roller Rink. Admission is free. Rentals are $3.50 at rink or bring your own skates or blades. Concession stand will be open for purchase. This is not a drop off event. See flyer for more details.

We are bringing a read-a-thon fundraiser to Jefferson school. Whooo’s Reading is a web based platform that provides kids with a fun way to log their reading time, parents with an easy way to collect sponsorship pledges, and teachers with a way to incorporate reading into class activities. All while raising money for our school!

Go to My Account and click on My Forms on website or simply click here to order a copy for your 5th grader today. It will be distributed to students in their classes a few weeks before 5th grade graduation.

Start With Hello Week: 2/5 - 2/9

During the week of Feb 5th, the Jefferson community will be participating in the nationally recognized Start with Hello Week to bring awareness around the importance of celebrating kindness and inclusion with a simple ‘hello’. The non-profit organization, Sandy Hook Promise, began this initiative as one of their outreach opportunities to spread awareness around the power of reaching out to others, particularly to those who look alone. In addition to our themed days, Jefferson is excited to welcome seniors from our community to facilitate fun enrichment workshops during recess as we bring awareness to celebrate Start with Hello.

Stand Up Girls

Join us for the next season of Stand Up Girls. SUG is a local SOMA organization that teaches girls grades 2-6 how to stand up for themselves (public speaking and self-esteem), stand up for others (diversity celebration, anti-bullying) and stand up as leaders in their community! More than a hundred SOMA families have benefited from this program since its inception a few years ago. Run by a Marshall mom and South Mountain mom, we have girls from all over our district participating, and welcome all girls and families to join us.
