Hello, 5th grade families!
We are the PTA's 5th Grade Events committee leaders and we wanted to let you know that we're working to plan a fantastic year for our kids. We're here to make sure our 5th graders have a fun, memorable last year at Jefferson, full of the milestone events they're all looking forward to.
We're still waiting to meet with the 5th grade teacher reps, and will coordinate with them on events, projects, field trips, and moving-up celebrations. We know that, for health and safety reasons, our year will likely be "back-loaded", with most of our events happening in the spring so we can more safely gather kids and hold as close to "normal" events as possible. Please stay tuned for more information about a potential calendar of events, and we are always open to suggestions!
As you may have heard, there's traditionally been a 5th grade social in October, but again, we thought it would be best to postpone that to later in the year in the hopes that we'll all feel more comfortable with large gatherings. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
One thing that we WILL begin soon is gathering photos for the yearbook! Please stay tuned for more information about that.
And don't forget to order your child's 5th grade sweatshirt (order form here) if you are interested. (No one will be denied because of inability to pay; please contact Ms. Hutchinson for assistance.)
Again, we apologize for the slow start, but please know that we are working hard behind the scenes to plan an exciting year for all of our 5th graders!

Thank you!
Ani, Jackie, and Leslie

Yearbook Volunteers Needed!

Please contact Ani, Jackie or Leslie at 5thgradeprojects@jefferson-pta.org if you are interested in volunteering for the positions below:

  1. Yearbook Chairperson(s)- Oversee all aspects of yearbook
  2. Photographer - (Pending a decision regarding the school format) photograph staff members (if needed), photograph 5th graders with teachers during events and/or in the classroom, take candid photos of students at any remaining events this school year, including the 5th-grade class photo after t-shirts arrive in April.
  3.  Coordinator of Teacher & Principal Letters - Request letters from the principal/assistant principal and from each 5th-grade teacher, and follow up to make sure their letters are submitted. These letters are from teachers to their classes and will be displayed in the yearbook.
  4.  Photo Organizer - as photos are submitted by 5th-grade families, they will be saved onto a database. The photo organizer will organize photos by event or holiday (e.g. Halloween, dance party, etc.) and tag students.
  5.  Student Survey & Class Song - Coordinate class song with Music teacher and obtain a copy of school song, send student survey to teachers to disseminate to students, track students survey completion.
  6.  Project & Photo Assembly (multiple volunteers needed) - help select photos for the yearbook with all events and students represented.  Organization and knowledge of students’ names in school is helpful.

We look forward to a great year! Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
